Worked many hours today at the Good Job, and then came home to sorta scrounge dinner, avoid doing the dishes and also the laundry. Tomorrow will be a continuation of procrastination the writing I want to get done, the first floor tile that needs vacuuming, mopping and sweeping, along with further abandonment of laundry. Dishes will probably be really funky by then, so their cleaning is gonna have to happen despite my powers of Putting-It-Off-ness.

Today, however, I have managed to half-cook lunch for tomorrow (...why did I think that even overtime would be enough to justify a 10hr shift? Even if it is the Good Job. *facepalm*), and then redo my entire lj layout. Even made a new default icon!

But the best bit of the day was talking to the girl on the phone and telling her all about the new shoes I got (woo!) and the excellent member sales today and how I may actually get to make some use of the iPod shuffle that crazy Jem gave me for Christmas. (No, seriously. WTH? A Shuffle! I have no words to express my giant thankyou to the boy so I just sorta flap my arms around a bit every time it comes up in conversation with anyone).

In other news....

Wayne is coming to visit me for a whole week at the end of January! Just in time for my birthday even! *wiggle dance flail!* Time off has be secured, the house will be cleaned by then, and and and omg I haven't seen her in more than two years and I'm so so so so SO excited. Seriously. Rarwoot!

Today has been a good day. Yes. Knowing my Girl gets home on Saturday doesn't hurt anything either. My spaz fit being done for the evening I'm going to go up to bed and finish my book about poncy British Magician-type boys and be amused until I fall asleep.

It always rains on my birthday. This is a good thing though. In a place as dry as Southern California can be this kind of weather is needed. Without it even the desert plants shrivel and die. This morning was bright, sunny, but then the clouds rolled in and the afternoons was heavy with an oppressive darkness. But it's raining now, and everything feels better. Weighted differently, clean, new.

The headache is gone, thanks in part to lunch. The caffeine in my Coke probably didn't hurt either. It was a quiet affair, lunch, mostly because all three of us were starving. But on the way home I was able to wax philosophical on the state of the world at large and those things which are a part of living in a "First World" country. Conclusion: Even if our traffic is bad, we take our infrastructure for granted.

Living in an office is a surreal experience. Came back from Wings and Things to find that my cubicle had been decorated by the HR ladies. Rather resembles a circus tent, in fact. There's even this crazy sort of crepe-paper rainbow coloured disco ball hanging from the ceiling. *grins* I couldn't help but feel loved. There are streamers and weird decorations all over the desk and hanging from the ceiling -- someone even found leftover Christmas decorations, because they know I dig the random.

Checked the flist after lunch too...and...*hugs flist* You guys are brilliant.

[livejournal.com profile] karose wrote something for [livejournal.com profile] nightfallrising and myself that...*sighs* Hit home is in this incredible way, is all. Got that good tight feeling in my chest.

Then [livejournal.com profile] yuki1013 drew... well, just go look. I sat here for a long moment looking at it and...didn't want to have to explain to anyone why I was sitting here with tears in my eyes, but this was good too. Really good.

And [livejournal.com profile] ranalore made me a birthday card and sent me an email Saiyukie drabble. [livejournal.com profile] wildelamassu says she's sending stuff in the mail (like REAL mail *boggles*) and KA with the standies, and then [livejournal.com profile] snowyheart wrote a fic for Night and I too, even with all her school work, and -- *overwhelmed*...

I sound like such a sap. *grins* I am such a sap. But now, without the headache, I can been the big ball of fuzz I usually am, and...you guys are just too good to me.

[livejournal.com profile] pvt_tiger sent me an email that managed to register even before lunch though...
