Per the conversation last night -- and actually anyone else out there who knows anything about carpal tunnel -- do your hands ever just feel tired?

You'd think I was trying to lift weights with my fingers or something. Egh.

ETA: Though this makes things a little better. (Just click on it... Then the pig.)

"Tired" hands can be more an indication of muscle strain in the fingers than simply carpal tunnel. The thing to watch out for is accompanying numbness of the fingertips or tingling (pins-and-needles) feelings in the fingers and palms - well and of course, wrist pain. Inflamation of the carpal tunnel can lead to increased difficulty in digital manipulation, but the other symptoms are more common. Even so, whatever the cause, if you're not already wearing wrist braces, doing hand exercises and practicing temperature therapy, you might want to try them since prevention works a lot better than the surgery. Also, giving some thought to the ergonomics of your most commonly used keyboard setups would be wise. I used to work in the environmental health and safety division of a corporation and ergonomic risk assessments (and adjustments) dropped our reported cases of carpal tunnel almost ten percent in a three year period.

See, that's the thing, it always starts out with tired hands. And then it ends up like now where I can barely feel my pinky or ring finger on my left hand. In fact it's all weird and tingly from the elbow down on that side.

I know I have problems with my ulnar (sp?) nerve in both arms because it gets pinched at the elbow. I had to quit water polo and swim in high school because the doctor I saw said I should be concerned about permanent nerve damage. And now? That office work would do it? Is just super lame.

Shut-up body that doesn't work right. *growls*
