Things I have learned today
Libraries inherently make me feel better.
Rana, that book you lent me ages ago and that I'm just now starting? Is really, really good.
I can read five chapters in an hour.
Work sucks less when I'm busy. And not in the file room.
By nodding at regular intervals no one will know I'm actually writing fic during staff meetings.
It may start out as a drabble, but if your meeting is an hour and a half long you'll end up with a fic instead.*
Pie, even if it is sent by IT, just can't be a bad thing.
Paying your student loans always hurts. Even over the phone.
Stupid people are everywhere. They also tend to multiply at deadline time.
My betas are right. Notes have already been done for the fixing of the one bit.**
Things I will tell myself I'm going to accomplish while I have no computer to distract me
Finish unpacking my room.
Finish all the manga I have that has not been read.
Watch the last of my One Piece dvds.
Draw that tree.
Go to bed early.
Finish the book Rana lent me.
Finish the book my sister lent me.
Things I will actually do while I have no computer to distract me
Finish the book Rana lent me.
Draw that tree.
Start the book my sister lent me.
*Happy Birthday
karotsamused! I really did start to write you a birthday drabble that I was going to post before going home, but now it is too long and will require actual typing and writing and so will not be seen until Diego returns. Really all I have to say about it is that about five seconds into my meeting the one thing that occurred to me was, "This would be soooo much shorter if Ed were here." *cue evil laugh*
**Sometimes? Having good betas is a pain. Why can't you guys just let me suck instead of giving me good ideas to make the story better? I want to be laaaaaazy. *tackles* It's all right though. I love you anway.

Date: 2005-06-03 03:16 am (UTC)1) Naptime is GOOD, especially when you're *not* the one napping.
2) Chaseshipping is canon.
3) YGO is kinkier than it looks.

Date: 2005-06-09 05:02 am (UTC)Getting back to all your comments now that Diego is healthy, huh?
Date: 2005-06-09 05:11 am (UTC)and we've solidly established I'm crazy...
XD Oh yes. YGO rocks. I will hook you up with as much YGO as you'll let me and then some you won't. XD
For *starters*:
Rat and Fox: Focusing on the differences between American and Japanese episodes: http://www.ratandfox.net/YuGiOh/index.html
My ffnet favorites lists, both authors and stories, are far from comprehensive (and the recent additions are nearly all Saiyuki), but provide a solid start: http://www.fanfiction.net/~nightengale13
Tangent to that, the two authors who you *really* need to read, in terms of intelligent writing with much subtext, are my good friends Ocean and Banjodog, on FFN. Read *all* their stuff, not just what I've got favorited. Lizeth is also good in general, though she's lighter, and tends toward crossovers.
And tangent to Ocean (who's a somewhat big name in the smart half of the fandom, fyi): Ir-N Hnqt is a rather dark, very quality, fanfic archive. The title of the place, which in ancient egyptian translates to "I need a beer," is a direct reference to her fic Fly Away Home. Also, you should know that any reference to orange popsicles or creamsicles, or any mention of Yami's predisposition towards the flavor orange or orange popsicles, is taken from that same fic, and a short omake fic connected to it. Whether the authors who use this element *know* that, or whether they just got it by way of the fandom daisy chain, is beyond me; but she came up with it before it was anywhere else. With that said, Ir-N Hnqt: http://www.daaku.net/in-r%20Hnqt/
Next, Loki's YGO Links List. Pretty helpful, though not the final word: http://www.geocities.com/metiorx/general.html
By this point you'll have gotten thoroughly confused by the *bajillion* ship names in fandom, so I offer The Shippers List: http://www.shadowrealmonline.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=50
which is maintained by lfangor (a name you'll grow to recognize if you hang around YGO for long) on LJ: http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=lfangor
That's all for now! ^_~

Date: 2005-06-03 03:30 am (UTC)I finished the first challenge story, by the way. Eliza gave me a title that nearly made me cry with laughter, it's such bad, bad wordplay. I have to track down a third beta for it and I'm pondering what to do with the second challenge story. Good thing they're due in August or I'd suspect you of messing up your computer just to get out of beta duty.
*eyes you*
Don't get any ideas.
Dinner tomorrow? I have no idea what I'll make, but I have food in the house, so something edible can be produced.
