So, say you were meeting a new person - blind date, new friend, who knows. And you wanted them to have some idea of what kind of person you are, and who you are. But you can't actually tell them in so many words. Instead, you have to give them a box, with a dozen things in it for them to ponder over.

What would you put in the box? No cheating - you're not allowed to include things such as links to your livejournal.

1. Photos of Puerto Escondido.
2. A Moleskine.
3. Thomas Merton's, The Way of Chuang Tzu.
4. X-men comics.
5. L.M. Montgomery's, Anne of Green Gables.
6. The chocolate chip cookie recipe.
7. The mix cd in my car.
8. A picture of the Bear playing the flute.
9. A tape of Papa reading P.G. Wodehouse.
10. The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, by Chris Van Allsburg.
11. One of Mama's paintings.
12. A passport application.

[Edit: Lunchtime fortune cookie told me something I already knew. "There is a prospect of a thrilling time ahead for you." Yup. *griiiiiiins* Yup.]

My family reads EVERYTHING out loud. But having Papa read Wodehouse is my favorite. It's how I first read all kinds of things. From Thurber's stories about being a kid to the first time I heard King Lear. Wouldn't be the crazy person I am today without that. *smiles*

Kenyon was only an hour outside of Columbus, so my fondness for Thurber's childhood is great.

Gotta say though, my favorite of his animal fables is "The Owl Who Was God." Moral: You can fool too many of the people, all the time. Heh.

Who is Puerto Escondido?

Rune, I'm wondering if you got around to send me mail? When I got back from Indonesia I checked and I didn't seem to receive anything. I hope nothing got lost in the mail >__

Gah, no, I suck. My present is sitting in the dinning room of my parents house along with about half the Christmas presents I was supposed to have mailed by now. (I found an apartment, moved out, moved in and am finally settled. *grins* Mostly.) BUT I will put it in the mail this next week (pay day is Tuesday!). I will!

This (http://www.tomzap.com/escondio.html) is Puerto Escondido. Grew up going back and forth between here and San Diego. My favorite place on Earth. *grins*

Rune, still remember me? I actually got some postcards for you when I was in Indonesia. Was wondering where to send them... any chance for me in getting your address?
