wordsofastory gave me a letter to do for this meme AGES ago and I, having finally gotten around to going through my inbox again, am finally doing it. H-harrr.

November: November is anniversary month. This November means two years and more pie.
New: This has been a big year for new things. New furniture, new apartment, new adventures. New tattoo (Ee October!) New fishes. Some things are new-new, like the apartment and the fishes (and the tattoo). But other things are new and old at the same time. But still super exciting and important. Like living with my Girl, which was a big decision on both our parts, but something that I think has made us both very, very happy.
Notebooks: I love blank pages. I love filled-up pages. I love the way they smell, and the way that every time you pick up a new one there is the faint sound of stories breathing down your neck: When will it be my turn? My Karot has just gotten a job in a bookstore. This may be my undoing.
Nacimiento: ("Birth") I'm cheating, maybe, by using words in Spanish. But this is how stories and characters come into the world. They're born. And as some of you well know, it is occasionally a wonderful, joyous occasion with much celebration. Though, admittedly, often times the mother has died during the process. We work hard. These are labors of love, as they say. And I take as much joy from my friends' creations as my own.
Nutmeg: It is the one ingredient in my peach pie recipe that surprises me every time. But without it, it is just so bland.
Nectarines: The one fruit in the world I would very willingly eat until it actually made me ill. Why have all the nectarines this season been so crappy? *weeps*
Nail Polish: I have taken to painting my nails again. And it amuses me to no end. Currently, I am cotton candy pink, with sparkles. I'm still trying to convince Karot that she should have pink toes, but she claims the red hair gives her exception. Very well, we'll make them purple again.
Newton: Which is, no matter what my mother says, not my fish's name. Though, the fact that we remember that it's Not His Name goes to show the kind of power this woman has.
Me: I got a fish!
Mama: You got a what?
Me: I got a fish! A betta. *explanation on how fish was gift from supervisor goes here :D*
Mama: Then what did you name him?
Me: Ike.
Mama: What?
Me: Ike.
Mama: You can't name a fish "Ike"!
Me: Well, it's short for Isaac. He's too little to be an Isaac, so he's Ike.
Mama: ...
Mama: *pleased* I will call him Newton.
Two Weeks Later
Mother: *visiting apartment* Hel-lo, Newton!
Me: *facepalm*
Nubile: Hello, girlfriend. :D
Nacho Cheese: Why you gotta be so goo-ood? and probably made of cheese mixed with pla-astic
We are almost finally 100% moved into the apartment. There's three Target bags and an extra television in the living room, but that's it. If nothing else, this calls for celebratory Nacho Cheese. 96 oz can, here we come!

Date: 2007-07-08 06:05 pm (UTC)And hurray for nutmeg in peach pie! It's a bit like the cinnamon I put in my blueberry pie that always makes my mom wonder how my pie is so different from hers. Of course, she always decides I must be using brown sugar instead of white, and every single time, I tell her about the cinnamon so she can forget again before the next time I make blueberry pie, but so it goes. XD

So I tend to over-flour my cherry pies, but that's because I like less runny filling and more, um, goo. My mom always asks the same thing, and wants to know how it is that I get the cherries to get so fat. I've taken to just telling her it's how I pit them, and show her stained hands and she always decides to go back to using canned stuff. Heh!
