My seven and half hour shift at the Walmart of the coffee world is over, which is good. My girlfriend is many, many hours away and without internet, which is sad. But it is windy out, and rainy, and I have a brand new book to finish, so things are at the very least snugly and warm inside.

I think I may make myself a cup of tea and then read until I fall asleep on the sofa.

So how are YOU all spending this week between Christmas and New Years?

I'm enjoying the wonder that is coming to work to a half empty parking lot. Also, I'm hiding from the many treats in the copy/coffee room. Seriously, at some point we had 10 pounds of chocolate back there, plus cookies, pie, cakes, fudge and ... just way too much. We're only 7 people here!

Heh! I know exactly what you mean about the treats. We've had SO many at my Good and Happy Job that all of us are starting to think they're trying to fatten us up. I think the winner may have been the day that we had three different plates of fudge along with cookies and a cake and really we have a lot of boys, but even they don't need that much fudge. Seriously.

Mmm, that sounds lovely. What's the fun new book you're reading?

It really was rather, though I did end up spending more time asleep that originally planned. Heh. However, I hardly feel that I can be blamed for that. We have an obscenely comfortable sofa, you know.

My roommate got me Diana Wynne Jones' Conrad's Fate. It's one of her Chrestomanci Series and just wonderful. So wonderful, in fact, that I'm currently gone back to one of her earlier stories just to stay in the world a little longer. ...I admit at least part of my love for this latest book, though, comes from how much one of the characters reminds me of Howell from her Howell's Moving Castle, novel. Oh poncy magic boys, how you amuse me. Heeeeeee.

Hey, sleep is almost as awesome as reading.

Ooo, that sounds lovely. I haven't read any of her stuff, but I've been meaning to lately. Particularly if it has poncy magic boys!

Seriously, you must read these books. There's magic and cats and mistaken identity and fancy dress parties and boys in stripped stockings and evil little girls and fights over jam and, of course, those poncy magic boys. Heeeee. They're books that any library is bound to have, so, yes. Read! Read!

But how goes your break? Are you still on it? When do you have to go back to NY or are you already there?

My break is good! Relaxing, boring, all that nice stuff. I'm here in Ohio until the 6th or so; NYU doesn't start up again until fairly late.

Ooooh, nice. My Karot goes back to school on the 8th, and while she laments this, I do not becaue it means I can make her live at my house a lot more again. Heh. I may be selfish about her time on occasion, but I DO proofread papers. It's part of the girlfriend code of Woobie Love and Dorky Codependnce.

Hee! You sweetheart. I'm sure you only do it to help with the proofreading.

Hey hey proof reading is important. Um. But not spelling. Because I suck at spelling. ^^;;

Which is why god gave us spellcheck! Because he understands, and wants us to be happy. *wise nod*

How much is your discount at the Good and Happy Job? I'm thinking I might need a new bag for my Europe excursion.

Oh, the discount is insane (like 50% on some Good and Happy's own brand) but they're crazy about not letting us use it on anyone else. Gotta say though, we're having the used gear sale tomorrow. If there's a store near you I be they're having one soon too. Now that is the place to find good deals on stuff. Even better than my discount could do for ya.
