Saiyuki drabble
Nov. 30th, 2004 08:23 pmShould have known that when I end up composing the below fic in the car on the way to work, it's going to be a looooong day. In any case, here it is, as promised, a drabble beginning with, well, the sentence below.
Title: Weight
Author: rune*
Words: 104
Summary: A return.
"Are you sure you don't want to come in?"
"No. Thank you."
The two sutras had been lead weights kept close to his heart for the last year. Every mile he'd ridden in Hakuryuu's front seat, mission complete, he'd felt them. Every bump in the road leaving behind bruises that didn't heal. Now he'd handed them over.
"He would have been pleased--"
"Yes."
His skin burned where they’d touched him. Purely psychosomatic, he was sure. Worse now that they were gone. He'd sworn to bring them both back. And he had. They’d burned. But only in his mind. Without Sanzo, their power was gone.
And really, what is with my inability to write anything funny lately? This was such a great opportunity, too! Uh. Well, at least I'm pleased with what I did end up with.

(Also, it seems my cat snores, because she's asleep on the dining room table next to me going at it like buzz saw. Heh.)
