Written for the, [livejournal.com profile] 100_roadtrips, challenge #9: Reincarnation.

Dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] karose, because I got the idea from the adult ballet class. *G*

Title: Art
Author: rune
Words: 100
Summary: Sometimes it’s just the lighting.

Why he’d been given this goddamn assignment, he had no idea. Of all the stupid -- ballet. He snorted and adjusted the lens on his camera. Brushing blonde hair out of his eyes he raised the camera and focused. Didn’t matter where on the stage, all the dancers looked the same to him.

But, in the back, a man leapt, long and graceful, arms extended before him, and -- it must have been trick from the lights, bright and gaudy colours -- for the instant he hung in the air, it looked as though he held in his hands, a ball of light.

*turns bright red* Oh. Thanks.

There was just something about this one that really appealed to me. I'm so glad that so many people liked, especially the writers I fangirl -- like you! *grins*

For a slightly more articulate response than my initial reaction:

It's...honestly, it's a lovely piece of wordcraft that suits the chosen characters perfectly. It's...like a little snapshot, just a hundred brief words framing up this gorgeous image of a chance moment in time with hints at things beyond the conscious awareness. I love it.

And this despite the fact that I've never yet taken much interest in the world of 383. ^_^;

Which is exactly what I was going for. *is very pleased* I'm so glad that you think it's what I've managed to do. I mean, it's great to think that these characters might meet up and go on other adventures, but I think it's just -- almost more, if you're talking about a drabble -- interesting if they meet, but don't end up being together in any form. Like this. Sanzo sees this moment and some cord is struck, but I don't see him tracking down that dancer. And Hakkai for his part, would likely never even know he was there.

Ah, the unfinished moment...one of my favorite writing cliches ;D

(p.s. I still love my icons!)

I promise--if I end up making you dig the Nii-Kou side of things, I will definitely give 838 a fair shake in return. ^_^
