“Hold still.” Ed jerked roughly on his brother’s collar. “I can’t do this if you keep squirming.”
“But I can’t see to learn how to do it myself like this,” Al didn’t whine. In fact he sounded faintly amused. Ed just scowled harder, focusing on the smooth fabric between his fingers. It almost looked like he was mouthing something to himself, lips barely moving. “Over, under, around and through what, brother?”
Ed’s glare was half-hearted as he let go of Al, patting his chest lightly and making one last adjustment to the knot of the tie under Al’s chin. “That’s how it works.”
Al regarded his brother for a moment, before turning to look at himself in the mirror. “Thanks, it looks good. Who taught you to do this anyway?”
“Roy.” Defiant, cheeks faintly pink, Ed’s annoyed expression made Al think that he intended to try and stop the blush through sheer force of will.
“He’d have to know, wouldn’t he? A Fuhrer does have to be dressed up all the time.”
“Yeah, well, Hughes taught him so it’s not like he’s a genius or something.”
“Then he taught you.” His smile fond and a little sad, Al turned, suddenly grinning. “And you’ll teach me.” His grin widened even further. “We can say it was passed down for generations.”
