Yeah, setting up a community might be a good idea. Are we sure that there isn't one for The Con already? Though, one geared specifically toward slashers, etc, might have its own audience.
Hmm, that's a good question. I'm going to look, but I'm betting we would have heard about it by now if there was one geared toward our particular fannish subset.
Between the two of us (or drag in as many others as we can XD) I think we might really be able to work something cool out. Also, maybe add a little community service to the whole thing? Sponsoring something we all care about? A women's shelter? The GLBT youth facilities downtown? A comic book drive for some of the youth shelters or libraries around here?
You know, I've been looking for some kind of Project Literacy thing in this area, so that last option really appeals to me. How would we go about that, though? I've never organized any such thing.
